  • Danica Patrick is not the first female Nascar driver. Sixty-six years ago when the first Nascar race took place, there was a female driver, Sarah Christian, who finished 14th. Three weeks later, in the second race at Daytona Beach, Ethel Mobley finished 11th. So there have been female drivers in Nascar before. But Danica Patrick is the first female driver to reach the top and stay there. She is the first to make Nascar a career. She’s competed consistently. She’s dealt with the brutal schedule. She hasn’t won yet, but there’s still time. She’s Hall of Fame material even if she does nothing else. Follow Danica on Twitter here. Read the rest of this story here.
